Mariusz Cybulski, known as "Loord" for most of us. Presently playing for one of the biggest might of global e-sport. Former gamer of PGS, one of the most powerful Polish e-sport organisation. Admirer, player and one of team "Daj Boże Rozum" founders, also known as "team melanż". Loord, as the player of popular "Golden Five", is going to tell us about transfer from PGS to Meet Your Makers. He will explain, what happened during his life's best holidays and he will also try to persuade us that the depression which has hunted down his team is only temporary and they work really hard in order to get back to their master form. Furthermore, we will learn where Mariusz and his team are going to practice and why there are not less than 5 people helping Polish CS team in MYM. I'm inviting you to read!
Ziggy: Hello Mariusz. You'r playing for MYM above one month now, how is it like to be in such powerful organisation?
Loord: Hi. For me, personally, this is an excellent feeling. At last, we represent one of the biggest organisation in the world with unlimited possibilities and the best global WC3 division! Maybe it won't be a good comparison, but this is like playing for FC Barcelona or Real Madrid. I'm proud of being here.
So, has everything been done in a formal way? Are the contracts signed? Are you lawful gamers of Meet Your Makers?
Of course. We signed the contracts as quickly as we could, just after resignation from playing for PGS Gaming.
Did MYM have to pay something to PGS for your transfer?
It's true that one day MYM made an offer to PGS but the amount proposed by PGS was funny-foolish. In spite of all we decided to stay in PGS, provided that conditions we have been playing so far on will change. Changes in our contracts were unfortunately virtual. So we've put our resignation on manager's desk. It takes three months, so initially we were about to leave them in first days of February. Such circumstances forced Polish organisation to higher activity on that matter. Back there they were in really bad position. Their last chance was selling us to Danish organisation. Unfortunately, how "team-melanż" used to say: "too late dude". At last, the contracts have been dissolved with agreement of both sides. PGS didn't care about stopping gamers who don't want to play for them anymore. This is how it looked like.
Since when you didn't want to play for them and how did it look like? Did you lower your level specially because you wanted to get kicked by PGS?
The principal reason of all that were my holidays in Los Angeles, despite that they were the best in my entire life. It's hard to say that we lowered our gaming level on purpose because it wasn't that case. Nobody goes at WCG with losing thought, though. I consider personally that we were bad prepared for those champions and that's why we didn't make it. Bootcamp where we used to prepare was too short and not effective either. And there was a show-match, which we had to play because of SK Gaming's 10th anniversary, so we lost another precious training day in Sweden. It's hard for me to say anything about EM.LA either. It's hard to play good in such tournament when we have played no game with each other for twelve days. I'm really sad because partially it was also my fault. I was the only person who hasn't brought a notebook for the trip to Seattle. My only excuse might be fact that noone knew about going to Los Angeles that time. We were feeling like marionettes there which really want to show that they still deserve to be respected but they can't achieve it.
Now can be seen, who watched "Baywatch" and who is Mitch Buchannon's fan.
Did you make up your mind about leaving PGS during those "holidays"? When did come out this moment that you said to yourselves "STOP, we're leaving"?
This moment was there every day, just since we got to "City of Angels" we were wondering what have we done to PGS that they punish us like that. We landed in L.A.- the weather is ideal, there are palms, women... and we don't know what we're supposed to do or where we should go. We landed in one of the biggest metropolis in the world and we even haven't had a place to stay for a night. We had to do everything on our own hand, starting with renting a flat in hotel for the first night and finishing with legendary 10 thousand PLN which I had to spend for accommodation. It was hard to contact our old organisation, there were moments when we thought that they avoid us because they didn't answer phones or emails. So that's why I used the ?Holidays? word, because it matches properly. We never go for tournaments with thought of visiting, resting or partying. We always have one goal ? win the tournament. I guess that's why we're different than other top world teams. Unfortunately this event was unlike others, we didn't feel comfortable because EVERYTHING was paid from our pockets. Naturally PGS gave us this money back but think about all thoughts which were filling our minds. Nobody thought about the tournament. It was a moment when we said to each other that it cannot be like that and we have to do something with it. So then we said "STOP".
Does it mean that PGS's contribution to your "trip" to Los Angeles finished with giving you permission? "Go boys, it'sin the same country so we're going to save some money and by the way you can play a little there". There wasn't any help? Nobody was interested in you? What do you do tjere, where do you sleep, when do you play?
To be honest, it can be received in that way. In Seattle, Ryan asked us if we would like to go to LA on EM eliminations. Of course we wanted to, we hoped that it might be good recompense for poor show at WCG. Initial plan was about twelve-days-training in some internet coffee with American players. I have no doubts that we would win this tournament if such situation happened. But you know how did it really look like because I told you this before ? we had to pay for everything with our money.
Ryan asked you, you agreed and went there. What happend to Ryan? How is it possible ,that man who was used to being with you almost everywhere accepted your lonely trip?
His contribution to PGS is invaluable. This man developed that company. Unfortunately, someday comes such moment when you have to answer on ?What do you want to do?? question. Ryan ascertained that he has to focus on studying, so that's why he has given away his manager desk to Darky. There were a lot of unfinished cases which were a problem for Marcin - it was an only claim to him [Ryan]. "The lonely journey" was our decision, however nobody thought that it's going to look like I've described. We were certain that every organizational activities, including hotel and training spot are going to be done by PGS. We were wrong.
Luckily you got back to Poland in one piece. Leave EM and WCG for now and let's back to Ryan for few minutes. Do you think that studies is the only reason of such sudden leave of the team? It's hard to imagine that someone who contributed so much during all these years was able to instantly leave all that away.
Unfortunately, his studies are the only reason. The system of learing in Germany is changing. If Filip didn't finish this year, he would have to study several years more.
If MYM offered Ryan being your manager, would you agree to that?
It's unreal because Ryan has no time for e-sport right now. In MYM it looks different than in PGS, there are 5-6 people who take care of us, not only one. Although I don't keep it as a secret that we miss such person as Ryan who was our employer and manager and with whom we had really good relationships.
Do you think, that moving to foreign organisation from Polish one will make fans' support weaker?
Actually, I don't know what I should think about that. Many foreign teams play for organisations from other countries and fans still support them, though. For me, a fan is a person who supports not only when some formation win, but also when it is loosing. Unfortunately, there aren't many people like that so those are the most valuable ones.
Mariusz from one step to international movie star.
I'm asking about fans because during that whole PGS/MYM case a division of them appeared. Ones still support you and the others stand for PGS. Don't you think that there was lack of resolute explanation of this situation from your side? Why did you sit quietly for so long?
PGS could say anything to people about all that and take care of their image. We, unlikely to them, were limited by our new contracts. In spite of all, there were moments, when we couldn't abide it mentally. Especially when we saw the articles written by Guandi. This guy earned money thanks to our successes and now he criticizes and defames us. Why? We have done everything what we could in order to win WCG. The wish of winning such tournament for us is such enormous thing that we can throw away our private life and focus on one, advisable target. Maybe somebody before defaming other people should think about what he has done, p.e. while being on "Tour d'Eiffel" trip. I don't want to draw out bad stuff. Happily, those who are supposed to, know ?how Guandi's work in Paris looked like?.
Too many of these secrets, maybe you give away more?
I think that I've given away lot already.
American pubs chase their clients in such way.
We're at Guandi. In principle, that whole public noise has started exactly because of him. Why the management didn't react? Many people could think that they enjoy it.
To be honest, I really don't know the purpose of Guandi's article. If I was in the management, I'd never let releasing such article. This situation reminds me a little bit situation of great Polish sportsman Adam Malysz. He won everything, what he could. Unluckily, the crisis of his sport form came but nobody knew the details. Happily, Adam prooved to everyone last year, that he is a great sportsman and he shut mouths of those people, who were saying that this is his end. I hope, that same situation will happen to us.
Did other of the world's top teams want you in their team?
There were a lot of such propositions and in most cases conditions were better than the ones proposed by PGS. However, sentiment to Polish organisation was too big and we didn't want to leave this team.
Do you sell us some names?
I wouldn't like to.
At least countries, where those multiclans come from?
Don't insist.
OK, so tell me, do your parents or friends know that you moved to bigger, better, foreign organisation and you earn more money?
Yes, everyone considers unanimously that we've done well.
How is it going with your co-operation so far? Nowadays, two Polish gamers are there, but I'm interested in your welcome, was it good for you?
At present we're settling there but even now we can say, that the management of MYM operates very well. Threats are resolved immediately. It seems, that the organisation wants to do all to make us fell good and enable us achieving successes by our division. And we are really hungry of them, like never before.
You mentioned, that there are 5 people in MYM who take care of you. What belongs to their duties?
I don't know it, yet.
If you have to put out the mark for the way this organisation works and compare your present team to previous one, what would it be (scale of 1 to 6)?
7.
7 for MYM?
Yes.
And for PGS?
Let's leave it.
As you wish.
Loord had some time for visiting Paris, in the meantime he has won the title of ESWC 2007 World Champion.
So, going this way, do the management choose your trips? Or maybe you've received a free hand and you can just point any place on the map with your finger at any moment? How is it?
Personally, I hope, that we'll go at every tournament, if we declare such wish. This is that case, which PGS was lacking of. I can ascertain courageously that it was another reason, why we've left this company. Most of tournaments where we've been to as PGS, was paid by organizators and those ones, where we wanted to go with PGS money support, were beyond of our reach. Everyone of us likes to compete in championships and first of all wins it. One of MYM prinicap tasks is making it possible. Of course everything mustn't transcend intellect because it's pointless to go to India or Korea for KODE5 with 5.000$ prize for 1st place.
Maybe you'll tell us where are we going to see you in the closest future?
Presently, we try to do everything in order to compete at Extreme Masters, this is our priority.
You'll visit a large amount of tournaments and what about training? Inferno Online isn't a partner of Danish team, we'll you try to persuade Nostra for some Stockholm training place? And maybe you're going to receive other nice space for bootcamps?
Our new bootcamps place is the city of Copenhagen now, preciselier nethouse2000.net internet coffee.
Will you train there before every tournament?
Yes, as far as the time lets.
Everybody can remember the affair, which appeared on CS-redaction line. We're not surprised of your reaction either, but tell me, don't you regret leaving your native team?
As I said higher, we had the sentiment to PGS, that's why we didn't want to (although we could) leave it earlier. At last LUq, Neo and TaZ have created this crew from the beginning, so it was hard for them.
There goes about many rumors upon your first loss with us (Frag eXecutors) from many years during PGA 2007. Some says, that you lost then specially, but other ones talk about normal game. Looking at your face just after the match, you weren't so cheer. What is your opinion?
One day it had to be done, however nobody should think, that it'll be the end of our domination in Poland. Peculiarly, I'll do everything in order to not repeat it again and I guess, that rest of boys are going to do it either, I know their mettles ? especially LUq's and Neo's. It's hard for us to focus at Polish tournaments, therefore we never play there on 100% of our abilities. Still I can't say, that we lost specially, because it wasn't like that. We played just weakly. Presently, we rebuild our form and we have huge mobilization.
Can you remember the famous TaZ's declaration?
I can. You have to ask him in person about that, I cannot answer instead of him. All I can say is, that I can't imagine creating of the best world's team without Wiktor.
Loord with team PGSPokerstrategy.com together, just after the legendary loss with Frag eXecutors, during the finals of Poznań Game Arena 2007.
Nobody imagines that. Well, someday I'll ask him. When I was preparing for this interview, I spoke to several people and I seek suitable subjects for questions. One of characters recommended me following query. If at next global rank competition you take up top8 or top16 place, will MYM be angry either? I mean, is MYM going to be as bad as PGS after the trip to USA (WCG and EM L.A.). Will you assume an attitude?
Strange question. I hope, that we won't be able to say nothing wrong about MYM, if we take up bad place at some tournament. I hope, that we won't know, that it was only our fault. Such situation was after WCG 2007 and I admit, it was our mistake. I hope also, that MYM will provide us good conditions to training in order to say after our show, that it happened because of our time wasting.
Assuredly you are interested in PGS's inherent work, after your leaving. You don't astonish, that they have prefered Call of Duty 4's zone than Counter-Strike's?
I have no opinion upon it. But last articles on site seem to be funny for me.
It had to be next question. Lately, we're filling up by PGS's texts from "us>rest" series. Are they still the best? Even without the golden five? Can you say something about that?
I guess that's right. In spite of all, they still will be the best Polish organisation. Lastly, they've owned two top1 teams in the country. Perfect WC3 division with Palladyn and sLh ahead, Chris from NFS ? I've never met such person like Krzysiek, who uses whole heart when he does something. Furthermore, they've got the best FIFA division. So I consider, that it is going to be really hard task to anybody, take over the leader place in Poland.
And promoting CoD4 above CS? Many people laugh down their one's level best convincing the public, that the age of Counter-Strike has gone to an end after your terminating. The time of Call of Duty 4 has come and this is an only advisable step... Maybe they're just afraid of rivalry with MYM?
To be honest, I don't know how I can assume an attitude. Same stuff like this, when they didn't want to co-operate with us. Only people, who will stop play Counter-Strike can form a judgment and it hasn't been anounced so far.
Do you think, that CS has any chance to be the most ordinary e-sport discipline? I mean, the era of this game will never come to an end and it'll be the determinant of teamplay skill for a long time.
I consider, that a new, interesting game version would be useful, which could use contemporary tech possibilities. CS: Source isn't as good as CS 1.6, so it doesn't fulfill such expectations. And sport discipline, if chess and bridge aren't, so why e-sport won't be able to be?
I thought about discipline called Counter-Strike 1.6 5vs5 or Quake 3 1vs1... OK Mariusz, we've come to the end. I think, that you have told us much. I've an idea, would you like to build up a title for this interview? It can be some quotation, anything.
You can write "our mobilization is huge" or "we've never been such hungry of successes as today".
I'm leaving you some space for greetings and thank you for the interview. Good luck at conquering the world.
I would like to salute whole MYM organisation, thank them for a work, which they do in order to make achieving our successes possible. Particularly, I would like to thank the Razer, Sennheiser, Qpad and NorthQ companies. I would like to thank also PGS for the time, which we spent together and wish them good luck.
Dobry team work gwarancją sukcesu.
Tak a skad wiesz? Masz wglad do kodu? Strona pokazuje jakas arbytralna liczbe.
Musze Was utwierdzic w przekonaniu że on działa, przed chwilą nawet pokazywał 7 userów online (coś mało ludzi oglada tak wypasiony sajt w sobotni wieczór) ;)
General --> jesto dokładnie tak, jak mówisz!
