The oldest Polish e-sports website - www.eSports.pl - has conducted an interview with the Editor in Chief of Frag eXecutors, coincidentally, my boss, who everyday chows down on kebab on the corner of Floriańska Street and Mikołajska Street - Maciej "guandi" Śliwiński.
From the discussion which was lead by Marcin Wojciechowski, readers will find out a few interesting pieces of information such as, why guandi chose
Frag eXecutors and what role he will have in the organization - as well as where he thinks Fx stands on an international scale. There wasn't a lack of questions about the former players of the "executors" either - tjb, Gooral (with who we said our goodbye's with a few days ago), and BEn.
Maciek noticed that Polish organizations should find themselves on the same level as the elite SK Gaming or fnatic, just as it was a few years ago. He adds: "
..no one would have anything against the fact that in a year a Polish team, this time Fx, would come back to everyone's minds and back to the major e-sports media".
In the interview you can also find a little about the talked about project "Guns Are Drawn" as well as new websites from D-Link PGS, and Betsson Voodoo Gaming, our local competition. I think it's worth it to spend a few minutes to read this text, and a few other minutes to comment on it on our website :). I wish you a pleasant read!

Translated Interview
"We didn't invest a bunch of money into the development of this team to not achieve the absolute number one position. It is also worth thinking about, what our position will be amonst the worlds elite organizations. From the times when the representatives of PGSPokerStrategy.com were winning the most prestigious events in gaming, two years have passed. No one would have anything against the fact that in a year a Polish team, this time Fx, would come back to everyone's minds and back to the major e-sports media." - These are the words of Maciej "Guandi" Śliwiński, one of the fathers of the newly reborn Frag eXecutors organization, in an interview for our service (eSports.pl). How long the negotiations lasted between Fx and the Golden Five, where the money for such a team came from, and what are the goals for the next few years - all answers inside!
Recently you re-enforced the ranks of the team Frag eXecutors. What will your role be in the organization after the "new opening"?
I recommend everyone visit www.frag-executors.com. At this moment, the re-opening you are talking about has already happened, and about the new Frag eXecutors you can read at the above mentioned address. Rumors about the Golden Five joining Fx have been circulating for quite some time now on all sorts of websites, including eSports.pl.
My role in Fx will be very similar to the one I have had for the past three years in D-Link PGS. I will be responsible for the website to be updated with the most important news having to do with Counter-Strike 1.6 as well as Quake Live, and other e-sport news. It is very possible that I will also be responsible for a few other projects tied to Frag eXecutors, however at this moment these are projects with details that still have to be polished.
What are your goals? Do you want to create, as was in PGS, a big news website about e-sports, or will you limit it to information about your players?
As I mentioned earlier, we will try to focus on two of the most popular games - Quake Live and Counter-Strike 1.6, which are exactly the games Frag eXecutors support. The QL editorial crew is made up of two great editors, who have been writing about Quake for years now and know the scene very well. I would say that at this moment these are the two most experienced Quake writers in Poland - you can also add to these two "kaboom" who writes for Cybersport.pl. Our priority will also be Counter-Strike 1.6, which I don't think I have to explain why. For this we also have a very good editor.
A very important factor of course will be informing users about our teams. On our website you can find news about our teams performances, interviews, and a few projects with the involvement of our players. In the case of covering our teams we are implementing a new feature in the Polish scene which is an English version of our website. Right now we have a team in the very elite of Counter-Strike and it's only fitting to have a website in English. On our Polish website we will cover most of the important e-sport events. This is one of the most important matters, and in this way we want to cater to e-sport fans.
How did it come about that you guys hired the Golden (if we can still call them so) Five at Fx?
A better answer to this question would definitely be given by Adrian Witkowski or one of the players of Frag eXecutors. From my knowledge, the negotiations between Fx and the Golden Five started far before their great placing at the World Cyber Games. We will find out more about this in a conversation with Filip Kubski who touched on all the points you are asking about. I think that the fans of the team will be pleased, because Neo explains in great detail the background negotiations between AGAiN and Fx, and the reasons behind replacing LUq with pasha. This latter we already explained on a news post on our website.
What will be the role of Jakub "tjb" Barczyk, a member of the previous squad of Fx Counter-Strike, who is the only one remaining in the organization?
Kuba will stay in the team of Fx. I don't know what role he will have in the team, but from what I know, Adrian was looking to give him the managing spot of the CS team. However, I am not certain of this.
What will happen to the remaining players? A few of them have already found new teams (dOK is playing with D-Link PGS, and BEn just announced he will stay another year with BenQ DELTAeSPORTS.COM), are they not tied to Fx by any contracts?
I'm not sure, this doesn't have anything to do with me. Take in consideration that I am a new face in Fx, and it's hard for me to talk about things that happened in the passed or the circumstances in which the players played with our team.
You once said that "it's better to concentrate your energy into running two, three, maybe four divisions, rather than ten, such as was once seen in PGS". Is this how Fx will be ran? Other than Counter-Strike and Quake Live can we expect to see other players sporting your colors?
We have to very strong divisions, one which is world class as I mentioned before, and they expect the same support. If we have the chance than we will of course think about picking up other divisions - however at this moment all of our funds and energy are focused on our work with our Counter-Strike 1.6 and Quake Live players.
What about your representative for Need for Speed, Hubert "Gooral" Poczwardowski? He lasted through the cleaning of the Fx team list on your website, and he is still listed as an active player for Fx.
Hubert is not with Frag eXecutors any longer.
Will you expand your Quake division? New Quake players other than matr0x and his brother?
Our Quake division has been among the top teams in the nation for many years, both players have been at the top since Quake 3. Currently both players have been a little less visible on the overall scene, however we are all sure that they still represent the same high level of play. Having said that, it is never so well that it can't be better, so who knows, maybe in the future we will see some spectacular re-enforcements in this division.
Where is Fx getting the money to invest in an editorial crew or to welcome (a very expensive team) the Golden Five? Who is putting the money into the team? How does the team work from the organizational stand point, is Adrian "Ziggy" Witkowski the owner or only the manager?
The investor of Fx Entertainment (the owner of Frag eXecutors) is one2tribe, a company which specializes in the creation of community applications, such as massive multiplayer games, amongst others: Wiedzmin: Versus. From the organizational side not much has changed. The management has stayed the same meaning - Adrian alongside Arkadiusz Cybulski who is the co-creator and co-owner of Fx Entertainment.
In its time, Fx actively promoted its t-shirt collection to its fans. On the website there is a spot for the clan television FxTV. In addition to this you guys have a facebook profile. Do you have any other ideas to cater to the community?
The offer from the Frag eXecutors store will be soon filled with new gadgets which should agree with the tastes of Polish fans - I don't think the owners of Fx will be mad if I let you guys know that there will be shirts and sweatshirts of the professionals for sale. About FxTV, of course we have plans - we will be wanting to have more user made videos on there. A few other community projects with the participation of our professionals are also in the making.
Imagine it's winter 2010/2011, time to look back on the passing year. What is the position of Frag eXecutors, in the media and in competition amongst the other e-sport organizations in the country?
In our country, I hope we will be the top organization without any discussion. We didn't invest all of this money in the development of this team to not achieve the position of number one. You have to remember however, that this team will be present at international competitions so it's worth thinking about what our position will be amongst the worlds top.
In a year would you like to be mentioned alongside SK Gaming or MYM?
You know, I think it would be good for all of Polish e-sport if this happened. From the time that the representatives of PGSPokerStrategy.com were winning the most prestigious events, two years have passed. No one would have anything against the fact that in a years time, a Polish team, this time Fx, would come back to power around the world.
Since we are talking about your competition. Will you feel more emotion going up against D-Link PGS, a team with for a long time, you helped form?
Ethan and Luki are really cool guys, however in the workplace we often had completely different thought waves which lead to a lot of smaller and larger disagreements. I wish D-Link PGS all of the best, I have a huge sentiment for this team, I spent my three best e-sport years there and I met a ton of great people, etc. I hope that this team will still be around for a long time and won't disappear from the countries top, and hopefully they'll be able to replicate their past success. I wish them many placings on the podium, right behind Fx of course.
At the same time new websites are being presented by Betsson Voodoo Gaming and D-Link PGS. The Fx website isn't new, however it is just beginning to be filled with content. Did the organizations just start focusing on their websites, and does this mean that good times are coming for fans and readers?
A website of any company in this day and age is extremely important, and it isn't any different with e-sport teams. BVG in my opinion has been a bit to hasty. With their release of a website which lacks full functionality it might not be a shot to the foot, but it could definitely be a self-enflicted twisting of the ankle. I was really awaiting the new website of my old team. I didn't really take part in its creation because Luki and his new company were the ones responsible for it.
Generally, it is everyone's opinion that the new website of D-Link PGS is much better than the one I was working on with my editorial crew for the past half of a year. It is simple and easy to use, and I think that the colors go together very well. I really like the new logo as well, however I also think that a few very important details were left out. I hope that Luki will be able to fix this in the near future. However it saddens me that the website will not feature any creativity from the editorial crew and only includes room for team news. Being sure this would happen one day I moved all my work to my own blog - if anyone would be interested they can always read my work there.
What is Guns Are Drawn? You said earlier that other than the Golden Five "the project will feature other players from Poland, and Guns Are Drawn will not only be dedicated to Counter-Strike 1.6 fans". Will Av3k or the Fx Quakers be involved? Draco who just ended his career? Lecho, with whom you worked with in the past?
Let us hope that next year at the beginning of the year we will have not 5 top teams but 10 in Counter-Strike 1.6. There really are chances for this to happen. But this question should be directed to the people behind the Guns Are Drawn project. The details in which game platforms will be chosen and which players will work with GAD are unknown to me.
Thank you for the conversation
